  Asthma
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) released two new reports on respiratory in May 2010. The first report, Asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other respiratory diseases in Australia, shows that in 2004–05 about 6 million Australians reported suffering from a chronic respiratory disease. A second report, Asthma among older people in Australia shows that most deaths from asthma occur among older people.

Review of Australian Higher Education (The Bradley Review) 2008/2009
In March 2008, the Government initiated a Review of Higher Education to examine the future direction of the higher education sector, its fitness for purpose in meeting the needs of the Australian community and economy, and the options for ongoing reform. The Review was conducted by an independent expert panel, led by Emeritus Professor Denise Bradley AC. A copy of the Review of Australian Higher Education Final Report is now available.


The Cutler Review of the National Innovation System, 2008
On 22 January 2008, the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator Kim Carr, announced a wide-ranging review of Australia's national innovation system to be conducted by an expert panel chaired by Dr Terry Cutler. The establishment of the review recognises the vital role innovation plays in boosting productivity and international competitiveness, and re-iterates the Rudd Government's

Lockhart Review supports strong regulation of research involving human embryos

The Hon John Lockhart AO QC, a former Federal Court Judge, who has been chairing an independent review of Australia’s Prohibition of Human Cloning Act 2002 and the Research Involving Human Embryos Act 2002 has delivered the Review Committee’s findings to the Australian Government today.
